Two Capuchin Priests ordained for the Order and for the Church
Br. Esope ordained in Buea
On April 24th, 2025, ten deacons and a Capuchin brother received the Sacrament of Holy Orders in the priestly rank during a Eucharistic celebration officiated by His Lordship Michael Bibi, the Bishop of Buea, at Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral. Friar Thaddeus born on 30th January 1991in muyuka District hospital of late Pa Godefroy Mosseu and Ma Subin Victorine. Second in a family of six, five boys and a girl. The journey that started in 22012 as a Postulant witnessed his Perpetual Profession on August 25th 2022, ordained Deacon on 2nd December 2023 in Bambui by Mgr Angelo Pagano and by God’s grace two years after has ended in praise, ordained a Capuchin Priest by Mgr Michael Miabesue Bibi, Bishop of Buea, on the 24th April 2025 at the Divine Mercy Co-cathedral Molyko – Buea.
Bishop Bibi urged the newly ordained priests to bring hope to those who are suffering, saying, “My dear sons, be men of prayer, and never say you have arrived, for you are just about to begin. A prayer less priest is an instrument of the devil. Live a life of servant leadership, not seeking to be served. Be transparent and accountable to your Christian community, and embrace obedience and humility in your service to the Church.”
This is what he had to say on his Ordination Day “By the grace of God I am what I am and His grace towards me has not been fruitless” (1Cor 15:10).
All what I have been through, who I am and what I wish to be in my life is thanks to the grace of God who made it possible and His grace has not been fruitless, today I am what I have dreamt and prayed for. I thank God for choosing me and to make His grace manifest in my life. He was among the 75th Anniversary Jubilee prpriest Ordained for the Diocese of Buea.
Br. Kenso, ordained in St. Joseph’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Bamenda
On another page we witnessed the serene forecourt of St. Joseph’s Metropolitan Cathedral in Bamenda became a sacred ground of grace and celebration on Friday, April 25, 2025, as the Catholic Church welcomed nine new priests into her fold. Among them was Brother Ignatius Nyuydini Kenso, OFMCap, a solemnly professed friar of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, ordained alongside eight diocesan deacons for the Archdiocese of Bamenda.
Due to ongoing construction and renovation works inside the Cathedral, the priestly ordination Mass was celebrated outdoors, directly in front of the Cathedral. The open-air setting allowed for an even larger number of faithful to participate in this momentous occasion, with the morning sun gently casting its rays over the colorful assembly of clergy, religious, and laity.
The ordination was presided over by His Grace Andrew Fuanya Nkea, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bamenda. In a deeply moving gesture that reflected the Church’s unity in sorrow and hope, the Archbishop opened the liturgy with an invitation to observe three minutes of silence in prayer for His Holiness, Pope Francis, who had passed away on Monday, April 21st, 2025. The moment was solemn, the silence profound, and hearts united across nations.
The Mass began at 9:00 a.m. under the clear Bamenda sky. From all parts of Cameroon—north, south, east, west—and even beyond, the faithful came in large numbers to witness the Church in her glory and to support the newly ordained as they received the sacred gift of Holy Orders.
In his homily, Archbishop Nkea drew from the Letter to the Hebrews (5:1–4), emphasizing that “every high priest is taken from among men.” With pastoral tenderness and spiritual authority, he reminded the ordinands that they had not chosen themselves, but were chosen by God, as Aaron was, to stand before Him on behalf of His people. “You remain human,” he told them, “and so you must continually strive for your own salvation in fear and trembling.”
He called on all the priests present to rekindle their original zeal, to look back with gratitude to the day of their own ordination, and to renew their commitment to serve God and His people with fidelity.
The liturgy came to a close around 1:00 p.m., and the celebration continued as crowds gathered around the newly ordained, offering congratulations, blessings, and joyful cheers. For Brother Ignatius, the joy was especially abundant, as Capuchin friars from across the country—from Shisong, Mbohtong, Sop, Babanki, Bafoussam, Nyandong (Diocese of Kumba), and Bambui—came in great numbers to witness this moment of grace and brotherhood. These brothers accompanied Brother Ignatius to the venue of his reception.
Before his ordination, Brother Ignatius served as a deacon at Sacred Heart Parish, Shisong, a mission experience that deepened his love for the Church and refined his readiness for priestly ministry.
The reception that followed was held in a nearby hall, where joy gave way to festivity. The place was alive with music, dancing, laughter, and testimonies of gratitude. His biological family, close friends, fellow friars, and numerous well-wishers shared in this overflowing joy. A significant delegation came from the West Region, particularly Mbouda, where Brother Ignatius was born and raised.
In a heartfelt address, his father welcomed the guests and shared his deep gratitude to God for the grace of priesthood in their family. “This joy is not ours alone,” he said, “but a joy for the Church, for the people of God, and for all who love the Lord.”
When Brother Ignatius stood to speak, the atmosphere grew still again. His words, rich with humility and spiritual depth, reflected what many described as “a joy that transcends words.” He gave thanks to God, to his family, to the Capuchin Order, and to all who had supported him along the way. His radiant smile and serene tone spoke louder than any speech ever could.
Even nature seemed to rejoice. The weather remained calm and clear, as if the heavens themselves had blessed the occasion.
The ordination of Brother Ignatius Nyuydini Kenso, OFMCap, is a powerful reminder that the Lord of the harvest continues to call—and young men continue to respond with generous hearts. At a time when the Church mourns the passing of the Supreme Pontiff, she is also renewed by the flame of new vocations.
As Brother Ignatius begins his journey as a priest of Jesus Christ, we entrust him to the intercession of St. Francis of Assisi, and pray that he may always be a humble, faithful, and joyful minister of the Gospel.
