The Assembly of Friars in Cameroon

The Custody’s Assembly in Bambui

On the 30 July 2025, about 60 Capuchin Friars in Cameroon, gathered in the Capuchin Friary Bambui, for their assembly in the presence of the Provincial Minister, Br. Angelo Borghino. This assembly was aimed at preparing for the up-coming 12th Elective Chapter of the Custody, to take place in January 2026. During the Assembly, the following subjects were discussed

  1. The content of ongoing formation, time and mission
  2. Relationship between parishes and our fraternities
  3. Expectations regarding the government of our Custody (Custos, Council, Bursar, and Secretary.

We equally appreciated the presence of Br. Giovanni Cropelli, the secretary of the Missionary Center who presented the projects of the Custody supported by the Missionary Center. He admired the fact that brothers have kept to the charism. His cry was that agreements be signed with bishops in parishes where we administer inorder to avoid being embarassed when we take up some major projects and the bishops take back from their parishes.

The Provincial Minister, appreciating brothers for the work done, exhorted them to remain in a spirit of prayer as we prepare for the upcoming elective chapter. He appealed that brothers build a strong fraternity amongst themselves, avoiding issues that could bring disharmony, and hatred.

It was so wonderful having brothers from all over the Custody together with Br. Julius Lendzemo from Ivory Coast participating at the Assembly.
